Welcome to the IMS Motorsport - 2008 British GT4 Champions
About the Team
IMS Motorsport was founded by Team Principal Scott Wilson in 2007 to drive the newly designed Ginetta G50 in the British GT Championships. With Matt Nicoll-Jones and Stewart Linn, two of the best drivers on the GT circuit, at the wheel and with a highly skilled race support team under Richard Hollebon at Richmond Racing, IMS Motorsport had a stunning year completing every race, winning at every circuit, finishing on the podium in all 16 races and winning 8 races in total. Despite strong competition throughout the season from rivals Rob Austin and Hunter Abbott, the team lifted the British GT4 title at Brands Hatch, with two races to spare.
Our thanks go to Richard Hollebon for his management and strategic input, to Paul Willows for his brillaint preparation of the car, to Stewart and Matt for faultless driving and to everyone else who worked so hard throughout the year. Our thanks also to all at Ginetta for producing an astonishingly reliable race car and for their faultless on track support.
2010 FIA European GT4 Championships
After a “credit crunch” break in 2009, IMS Motorsport resurfaced in 2010 to challenge for the somewhat larger prize of European GT4 Champions. With Stewart Linn unable to race due to his various Ginetta Championship duties, Matt Nicoll-Jones teamed up with Hunter Abbott* to once again race the Ginetta G50 against some of the best drivers in Europe. The 2010 European field is dominated by Aston Martin and BMW with Porsche, Nissan, Maserati, Corvette and the G50 of Christian Dick making up the grid of almost 19 cars. Early signs however are that the G50 might struggle against the awesome power of the larger engined, 470bhp, of the Aston GTs.
Once again we have Paul Willows as chief mechanic only this year working under the banner of Academy Motorsport who have many years experience supporting Ginetta G20s and G50s, and with the experience of Matt Nicoll-Jones at the helm, probably know the G50 better than any other race support team.
* Hunter is no longer driving for IMS Motorsport, and Matt Nicoll-Jones is the sole driver for the team.
